This year, Taipei Entrepreneurs Hub (TEH) invited Cathay Financial Holdings as a corporate partner to host an online pitch contest on the development of Web3.0 titled “Ready. Set. Pitch! Web3 Innovation Fintech Challenge” on August 19, 2022. As a result of this contest, 5 winning startup teams are selected, Ensuro, HedgeSPA, MotionsCloud, Stratiphy, and Soft Solvers Solutions. The teams will participate in the Demo Day event and other activities later in November.
More than 20 startup teams from countries such as the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Germany signed up for this online contest. The judges include Nicholas Yang, Head of Blockchain at Cathay Financial Holdings, Jessie Wang, Product Lead of Blockchain Team at Cathay Financial Holdings, Charlotte Jao, PR Director at Taiwan Association for Blockchain Ecosystem Innovation, and Leo Wu, COO of Rainmaking Innovation Taiwan. After a preliminary screening, 16 teams were chosen to enter the online competition on August 19.
According to Nicholas Yang, the winning teams offer matured technology and products that meet the requirements of Cathay’s need on Web3.0 development. Ensuro is the first decentralized, licensed (re)insurer on a public blockchain. It uses smart contracts to curate competitive insurance portfolios. HedgeSPA helps users “manufacture” or directly outsource outperforming investment products based on choice of market/economic data, fundamental factors, user data, and sentiment scores from news/social media. MotionsCloud helps property and vehicle inspection teams to streamline and automate inspection processes, empowering inspection teams to be efficient and effective. Stratiphy allows users to build their own trading strategy and discover great investments without any coding. Soft Solvers Solutions - Soft Solvers Solutions’ flagship service Agiliux develops software for independent Insurance Brokers and Agencies to enhance distribution efficiencies and improve customer experience. Cathay looks forward to be working with these teams to enhance the finance and insurance development in Taipei.
The Department of Economic Development of Taipei City Government stated that in order to assist the city’s industrial upgrading with key technologies and research energy and to encourage the cooperation of international startups and local enterprises, the Soft-Landing Initiative is being promoted. TEH is a community that introduces Taipei’s entrepreneurial environment and resources to the international startup community to assist them in seeking potential cooperation opportunities in Taipei. Not only will there be a second corporate innovation pitch contest in October, but the winning team will also participate in the Demo Day event in November. On top of that, there is a online office hours service for international startups with consultation services and international networking events; we sincerely welcome foreign startup partners to set up their business in Taipei through TEH.
