Taipei City Office of Commerce Sponsored the “2016 Taipei Lunar New Year Festival” was held in Dihua Street and 9 other business zones, creating a profit of about 5 billion NT dollars and attracting about 5.91 million visitors. It ended on February 6.

In 2015, the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan conducted the evaluation of “The Performance in Animal Protection” and “The Performance in Animal Shelter and Control” in special municipalities and county (city) governments. Taipei City Government was the only one that won the double “outstanding” award.

The Department of Economic Development, Taipei City Government sponsored the “2016 Zhuzihu Calla Lily Festival,” attracting about 500 thousand visitors and creating the profit of about 105 million NT dollars. It ended on April 17.

The Department of Economic Development, Taipei City Government held the “Mayor and AR/VR Industry Forum,” inviting representatives from Taiwan Association for Virtual and Augmented Reality (TAVAR), Asus, Acer, HTC, NVIDIA, AMD, and more to discuss the issues of promoting the industry. The meeting also aimed to provide understanding of the latest trends of AR/VR and its applicability on city administration, such as education, medicine, marketing the city, and more.

The Taipei City Office of Commerce promoted the “Taipei Travel Easy Pay” project to assist shops to expand the opportunities for visitors to exchange with micro-payments and speed up the time of billing processing and boost the applications of information technology.

The Taipei City Market Administration Office held a press conference for the “2016 Taipei Traditional Market Festival”, with the theme of “Happy Taipei, Considerate Market” on May 12. On May 14 and 15, 75 vendors gathered together at Yuanshan Plaza in the Taipei Expo Park. The vendors offered visitors free samples and big discounts. There were about 40 thousand visitors on those two days, successfully continuing the fame of the “First Stall.” The activity ended on August 30.

The Department of Economic Development, Taipei City Government helped NVIDA, a leading graphic processor manufacturer to establish the first Virtual Reality Lab @ Taipei in Neihu, providing fundamental training and VR equipment to professionals. It also helped startup companies to engage in the development of VR technology.

The Department of Economic Development, Taipei City Government held a press conference for the “Promotion of Energy Saving Products.” Collaborating with distributors and manufacturers, it worked as a warm-up to the “Energy Saving Season” in June and July. The campaign started on June 1, and the sponsor advocated people to buy energy saving home electric appliances. During the activity, the sales of electric appliances helped save 140 million degrees of electricity, at the value of 370 million NT dollars, with the diminishing of 70 thousand metric tons of carbon. The campaign ended on July 31.

The Taipei City Market Administration Office sponsored the Guanghua Digital Plaza Eighth Anniversary. By the end of the campaign on July 31, it reaped the media benefit of about 3,065,000 NT dollars.

The Taipei City Market Administration Office sponsored the “Enjoy a Delicious Feast at Taipei City’s Night Markets in 2016”, with 6 night markets joining this campaign. By the end of August 5, there was the total of 13 thousand visitors.

The Department of Economic Development, Taipei City Government invited 13 outstanding institutes in industry-academia cooperation in biotechnology to establish the “Bio Taipei Pavilion” to participate in the “BioTaiwan 2016”. It attracted about 3,600 local and international guests by the end of July 24. During the expo, the “Taipei City Biotech Business Opportunities Matching” helped 46 institutes to find business opportunities, creating 3.5 million NT dollars in transactions.
To honor biotech manufacturers that had succeeded handsomely in the international market and that had been innovative in R&D, 5.8 million NT dollars were awarded to 15 outstanding biotech manufacturers during the “2016 Taipei Biotech Awards” held on July 22 to establish the industry benchmark and promote their visibility.

The “2016 Taipei City City-owned Public Real Estate to Provide Support for Solar Power Generating Equipment Project” was announced. It was the first tender for installing solar power generators operated through inter-departmental collaboration in city-owned real estate. The bargain and tender award of this project was completed on October 20 (Tatung Co. Ltd. won the bid, and the capacity of the tender was 4,240.8 kilo watts. The feedback of selling the electricity was 10.7%). It was estimated that it could generate about 3.8 million degrees per year and decrease carbon by about 1,980 metric tons.

Taipei City Office of Commerce sponsored the “2016 Fashion in Taipei” event, in which 10 outstanding designers were honored. Holding a fashion show, it collaborated with private enterprises to build up a platform to promote the international visibility of outstanding fashion designers in Taiwan.

The Department of Economic Development, Taipei City Government sponsored the “2016 Taipei Hotspring Flower Festival” to promote the visibility of hotsprings and flowers and shape their brand image. Creating local leisure and sightseeing opportunities, it helped promote the business values of the hotspring industry. It ended on October 16.

The Taipei City Animal Protection Office and Chinese-Asia Environment and Ecological Protection Exchange Association sponsored the “Taipei World Animal Day” on October 2 in front of the Xinyi Public Assembly Hall, Four Four South Village. Mayor Ko Wen-je was invited to the event and helped promote the “Animal Friendly City Action Plan.”

Taipei City Government sponsored the “2016 League of Legends World Championship” and the promotional activity of the broadcast of the World Cyber Games from September 30 to October 30. All the events in the competitions were broadcast by the Taipei City Youth Development Office. Posters were posted in the main hall on 1F of the administration building to announce the latest development of the cyber games industry and the achievements of the Taipei City Government in promoting this activity. On October 8, the Mayor presented in the venue of the broadcast and cheered the Taiwan team – AHQ – together with the audience.

The Taipei City Office of Commerce elected 22 renowned restaurants that had been operated for 5 decades or more with the theme “The Memorable Taste of Taipei” to continue the legacy of gourmet food in Taipei as well as to promote the catering business in Taipei.

The Taipei City Animal Protection Office and the Wild Bird Society of Taipei sponsored the “2016 18th Taipei International Birdwatching Fair” with the theme of “Into Satoyama”. It was estimated that there were 12,051 visitors. It ended on October 23.

The Department of Economic Development, Taipei City Government sponsored the “2016 Taipei International Design Award” in the Syntrend business zone. There were 4,322 submissions by 2,927 designers from 59 countries. Local and international finalists in the contest and the directors and representatives from related associations were invited to attend the event. The works of 64 finalists were exhibited, demonstrating the full support given by Taipei in the design industry.

The Taipei City Animal Protection Office and the Wild Bird Society of Taipei sponsored the “2016 Guandu International Nature Art Festival”. The inauguration ceremony was held grandly. The event ended on December 31.

“The Praying Ceremony of the Taipei City Huannan Market Project Start-up” was held at 10:30 am, November 6, 2016. The guests included Mayor Ko Wen-je, administrators from various departments and offices, local elected representatives, self-governing bodies, citizens, manufacturers, and other representatives.

The Department of Economic Development, Taipei City Government sponsored the “Global Startup Era Focus in Taipei, Taiwan” to exchange resources and ideas of start-ups to enhance international links and demonstrate Taipei’s diversity and internationalization. It ended on November 19.
In addition, the Department of Economic Development, Taipei City Government and Business Next co-sponsored Meet Taipei, a Global Startup Era Focus with Taipei EXPO Dome in Taipei, Taiwan on November 17. It invited 50 funded manufacturers or manufacturers counseled by Taipei City Government to set up innovative booths in the exhibition. It ended on November 19.

It was the first time for the Taipei City Government and Bureau Français de Taipei to co-sponsor the “2016 Taipei Christmas Festival”. The DIY parts and accessories business zones in Chaoyang, Huayin, and the Rear Rail Station in the Western District were invited to join the Xinyi business zone in the Eastern District to conduct international exchange. It ended on December 25.
