Major Events of the Department of Economic Development,Taipei City Government in 2022 (January to December)
January |
15th | The Taipei City Office of Commerce organized the 2022 Taipei Lunar New Year Festival, which was built around the concept of appreciating, enjoying, and feasting on the New Year, by integrating marketing efforts from 9 business districts. In an adaptation to the digital transformation that has occurred due to the pandemic, an online zone was also launched in collaboration with Shopee that featured 100 participating stores. This year, the festival teamed up with the Taipei Lantern Festival to decorate the surrounding business districts of Chengzhong, the rear entrance area of Taipei Main Station, and Huayin Street and create an even bigger Lunar New Year experience. The event ran until January 30. |
February |
25th | The Taipei City Government established the Beitou Shilin Technology Park and set up a station office at the T4 Work Station that offers consulting services for land management, smart infrastructure, business registration, investment promotion, settlement guidance, and regulatory inquiries to assist businesses in resolving operational issues related to their establishment. |
March |
18th | The Cheng-Gong public market has officially opened. In addition to on-site lucky draws for visitors, customers at the market can enjoy discounts when using cashless payment methods such as EasyCard, Google Pay, Apple Pay, or Taiwan Pay. The more you spend, the more you earn.

18th | The Taipei City Government Department of Economic Development organized the 2022 Calla Lily and Hydrangea Festival. The Calla Lily Festival ran from May 18th to April 24th, while the Hydrangea Festival ran from May 20 to June 19. By promoting the theme of Calla Lilies, Hydrangeas, and Zhuzihu, the farms of Zhuzihu were transformed into a romantic landscape of Calla Lilies in spring and a vibrant display of Hydrangeas in early summer. The recreational agricultural area in Zhuzihu has become a popular Taipei destination for flower viewing in the spring and summer, and has received high praise from its approximately 600,000 visitors.

21st | The Taipei Animal Shelter Interim Center has officially opened. The shelter provides stable accommodation for around 900 dogs and cats and other public services until the new Taipei Animal Shelter is completed. The center was inaugurated by the mayor himself, who also issued the city's first adoption certificate and acted as witness. |
August |
5th | The Taipei City Government Department of Economic Development organized the 2022 Taipei Vision Forum and Special Exhibition, which featured professional forums, public lectures, exhibitions for innovative businesses, thematic experiential exhibitions, and a zero-waste eco-friendly market. The forum provided a platform for businesses to exchange ideas and showcase the business opportunities they have to offer, and encouraged public participation and the integration of sustainability concepts into daily life. The event, which lasted until August 7, attracted over 1,000 participants. |
8th | The Taipei City Government Department of Economic Development organized StartUp Day and released the Taipei City Innovation and Entrepreneurship Policy White Paper. |
12th | The Taipei City Government Department of Economic Development organized the Taipei Design Award 15th Anniversary Exhibition, which lasted until August 14 and had a total of 6,499 participants. |
October |
8th | The Taipei City Office of Commerce organized the Shopping Life in Taipei Festival and designed distinctive mottos and products using the slogan of “Youth” to promote and market the city’s business districts through a range of media channels. A total of 31 business districts and 70 unique vendors participated in the event which had attracted over 74,000 participants by October 10. |
14th | The Taipei City Government announced the opening of applications for the Taipei Digital Stimulus Vouchers for use with partnering merchants. From October 18 to October 24, members of the public could register to participate in the Taipei Digital Stimulus Vouchers. A total of 1,678,832 people completed the online registration. On October 25, the winners of the vouchers were announced. The Taipei Digital Stimulus Vouchers were valid from October 25, 2022 to December 18, 2022. Visitors from all over Taiwan were invited to come to Taipei and spur the city's economy by supporting local businesses. |
November |
15th | In November, Taipei City made the pioneering move of launching the Taipei City 1959 Animal Protection Hotline. From now on, if you encounter an animal in need of rescue in the city, you can dial the 1959 Animal Protection Hotline on your mobile phone or landline. The hotline provides animal rescue services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. |
18th | The Taipei Neihu Science Park Industrial Support Facilities Development Project, a joint project organized by the Taipei City Government Department of Economic Development in conjunction with Hon Hui Rui Guang., won the Government Team Award - Excellence Award and the Private Team Award - Merit Award in the 20th Golden Thumb Awards for PPP hosted by the Ministry of Finance. |
24th | The Taipei City Government Department of Economic Development made the pioneering move of establishing and officially launching the Taipei Digital Trade Center 3D metaverse online trading platform and holding the first online Taiwan-Thailand Business Matchmaking Event. Currently, a total of 106 companies have been recruited to exhibit online, showcasing over 1,200 products or technology services (Website: buy.taipei). |
December |
1st | The Taipei City Office of Commerce organized the Taipei Dining Digital Reward Program in a joint collaboration with payment service providers LINE Pay, Jkopay, and EasyCard Pay in which a total of NT$30 million in cashback rewards will be distributed electronically. Customers will enjoy 10% cash back on their purchases at partnering restaurants. With the participation of at least 13,000 restaurants, this initiative should stimulate over NT$300 million in consumer spending. The offer will be available until January 31, 2023. |
